TOWER AND RESCUE ENGINE RUN A CRASH, 1ST ALARM BUILDING FIRE, AND FIRST DUE BOX

Wednesday, January 18, 2012  This morning around 0730hrs Chief 29-1 (Pottiger) advised DC911 that he was on the scene of the Ace's Inn on Gap View Rd in the 38-4 box and had smoke showing from the eves of the two story structure.  The Tower (Capt. Lawrence) went w/4 on dispatch and arrived shortly after E38 and PR2 (Duncannon) to find heavy smoke showing.  PR2 took a line to the exposure while T32 split with 2 taking an attack line into the fire building and sending the Chauffeur and Roofman to the roof.  As the inside crew forced the front door fire began to vent out the Div. 1 window next to the door and the 2 man team made a strong push on the well involved fire.  The outside team laddered the building and put the Tower in service to cut from the bucket.  The inside team ran out of air and passed the line off to CCE20 (Summerdale) to continue fire attack.  While the Tower began their cuts from the bucket, fire self vented through the roof forcing the Tower to back off.  Command (Chief 32-2) advised to fully evacuate the building.  While crews were evacuated from the fire building, Capt. 32-2 (Strausbaugh) and one member from E35 went to the roof of the exposure building and vented the roof.   The Tower then stanged the fire in the attic division and crews re-entered the building to gain the upper hand.  Good work on the interior held the fire to the original fire building with minimal extension to the attic of the exposure.  Crews remained on scene until 1230hrs when the Tower was released to take in the first due box.

Shortly after the Tower went en route for the 38 box, the Rescue-Engine was dispatched for an accident with injuries on Ionoff Rd. in the 32-6 box.  RE32 (Truckman Willcox) went with 6 as the bells were dropping.  The Rescue Engine arrived to find one vehicle into a pole with one injury.  Crews assisted EMS and quickly cleared to take in the 1st alarm being struck on the 38 box.  The Rescue Engine arrived and took the RIT assignment and assisted with overhaul on the box.

As the Rescue Engine was just getting back into the First Due, Box 32-2 was struck for the house on fire on Hillcrest Rd.  The Rescue Engine took it in with R49 and Lebanon T5 from Company 32's quarters and the 32 Truck from the 38 box.  The Rescue Engine arrived with a Hydrant and found normal conditions from a rancher.  The Rescue Engine investigated and found a kitchen fire that was out on arrival, Command held 32, E31, and Lebanon T5 and placed the remainder in service.

Thanks to the transfers for covering the 32 district.
